Commander Cody at Cavalier Theater

Commander Cody helped invent a whole new style of music during the late 60s and early 70s while based out of the fertile music community of San Francisco. With his biggest hit being the classic "Hot Rod Lincoln" off his debut album in 1971, he pioneered a retro-revisionist country-rock with healthy doses of western swing, rockabilly and stripped down basic rock and roll. A string of classic albums, including "Live From Deep in the Heart of Texas" which Rolling Stone later named as one of the best 100 albums of all time followed, charting songs on both the rock and country top 40 charts, before the original band broke up in 1977. He has since relocated to the east coast in 1997 and has been going strong ever since wowing crowds at festivals, giant biker conventions, sleazy down home roadhouses and posh venues. Nappy Roots at Cavalier Theater

Nappy Roots came together in 1995 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Their indepent debut drew the attention of Atlantic Records who put out their major label debut "Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz" that became a multi-platinum hit and best selling hip-hop album of 2002. Part of the southern hip-hop scene, Nappy Roots were hailed by critics for their authentic deep-country production sound and lyrical content. After seven albums and 10 mixtapes, with two original members leaving for solo careers, Skinny Deville, B. Stille, Ron Clutch and Fish Scales are on their Year of the Hog Tour and continuing to evolve their sound. P.O.S. at Cavalier Theater

Doomtree co-founder, punk philosopher and lyrical bomb-thrower Stefon Alexander, aka P.O.S makes tight, declamatory music that builds on the Minneapolis-bred rapper and producer’s penchant for grinding beats and radical lyrics. Known for welding hip-hop with guitar squalls, screamed vocals, and futuristic beats fit for a Berlin nightclub, P.O.S steps even further into genre-blurring territory with “sleepdrone/superposition,” a nearly nine-minute-long sprawling masterpiece that touches on “being black, beefs, loves, hurts, victories, pride and the future” all while reflecting over the past two years since a kidney surgery sidelined him from making music. S. Carey comes out of the infamous Eau Claire indie rock scene as a classicaly trained percusionist and pianist. While on tour, he developed his own song writing ambitions that combine austere folk and modern classical, and has since released two albums as well as two EPs of his lush sonics, warmth, reverb and dusty textures of music that is heavily inspired by the natural world. The Staves at Cavalier Theater

2015 was a stellar year for the three Watford sisters, and arguably the best is still to come. Following the widespread global acclaim for the Justin Vernon produced ‘If I Was’, The Staves enjoyed a fantastic summer of festivals, with a standout performance on The Park Stage at Glastonbury. They were announced as the special guests on Florence and the Machine’s sold-out arena tour of the UK, where they wowed Florence’s broad audiences. The Staves finished the year with their own UK tour, including their largest headline show to date at London’s Roundhouse. 2016 will see the band taking ‘If I Was’ on the road again on a headline tour of North America, in addition to a string of festival dates on both sides of the Atlantic.  Doors 7:00/Music 7:30 $15adv/$18 DOS All Ages

Originally from Onalaska, Shane Mauss caught his first break when he was awarded ‘Best Stand-Up” at The HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in 2007. This led to his TV debut and first of five appearances on Conan.

Since that time he’s been on Jimmy Kimmel, Showtime, has had a Comedy Central Presents, a Netflix special ‘Mating Season’, and most recently released album inspired by breaking both of his feet in a hiking mishap called ‘My Big Break’ which spent time at #1 on the comedy iTunes charts.

Shane has also been getting a lot of attention as a popular guest on podcasts such as You Made It Weird, Bertcast, WTF, Duncan Trussell’s Family Hour, TOFOP, Crabfeast, Never Not Funny, and last year he started traveling around the country interviewing scientists about the meanings of life for his own podcast “Here We Are” which has a 5 star rating on iTunes.
